METAMORPHOSIS by Sergio Rossi Spring Summer 2010 Collection

METAMORPHOSIS by Sergio Rossi

“A shoe defines a woman’s allure. According to its curve, its design, it defines one attitude or another, it provokes different reactions. A shoe inspires an entire range of emotions. I tried to convey these through a dream,” says the Creative Director Francesco Russo. “This is the story of a woman who morphs on contact with these shoes. She is connected to a dream of shadows, birds, mermaids….. “. Objects of temptation appear out of a fantastic animal world. It is a dreamlike dive into the realm of metamorphosis, a kaleidoscope of sensations to experience. Structures fade, colours becomes material, a pure play of straps, curves and subtle curls re-define the ankle. The ankle is to the foot, like the waist is to the torso. In an infinite play of compositions and perspectives, the contours support the curves of the foot and the definition of the ankle. The Volto sandal is a play of cut-outs and a montage of colours and curved shapes. It is a drawn caress that lightens the step, lighter than a breath of air. The Sirena boot and ankle boot appear like fishnet stockings, enchanting the leg into its net of black leather. The Fenice Sandal, with its suede plumage, is ready to take flight. The concentration of creativity is on the form and structure of the uppers; like a sea sculpting a cliff, the shapes unfold in organically linked motifs. The heel remains a simple stem, a stand to highlight the art and craftsmanship displayed in various incarnations of the uppers. Suede, lambskin, lizard-embroidered goatskin, metallic calfskin, eelskin – these materials overlap, as do the colours, in a subtle chromatic play. Bright saturated shades contrast with muted tones; fuchsia with beige, firefly green with natural tan, dazzling yellow subdued by a spot of grey. Handbags such as the Sirena fishnet clutches and the hobo bag create the allure of a bright and sunny day.
