Audi celebrates FC Bayern with car parade
After a one-year break a cherished tradition was revived in downtown Munich today: players and coaches of the new German champion, FC Bayern München, were greeted by a cheering crowd of fans in a parade of vehicles provided by their partner Audi. The celebration culminated in the big champions’ party on the balcony of the city hall on Marienplatz.
The parade, which had started at the practice grounds on Säbener Strasse, was not led by team captain Mark van Bommel or the championship-winning coach Louis van Gaal for a change: the new A1, which Audi had painted in the colors of the German record champion FC Bayern on the occasion of the team’s title win and the superior season shown by Arjen Robben, spearheaded the way to “Marienplatz” for the brand new champions.
While the players enjoyed the cheers from the crowd on the back seats of Audi A5 Cabriolets, Audi had a special surprise in store for Louis van Gaal: he had the opportunity to ride to his premiere on the city hall’s balcony in an Audi R8 Spyder.
